This project was to develop an e-learning site for primary aged children as a follow-on to their visit to the SS-Freshspring, a restored military vessel moored at Bideford in Devon. The site aims to connect the maritime history so visible on the ship to modern careers and technologies in the maritime sector.
Here are the students talking about the project:
The student team worked closely with the SS FreshSpring Society and their teacher contacts during development

Based on a customised WordPress platform, the site allows for moderated discussion, mini-games and STEM-related case studies. A separate section holds teaching plans and resources for primary lessons.

The codeWest team developed the visual design, including some bespoke characters who guide children through the site. They also managed the site technical development and liaison with the clients.
